Revision summary
Patriarchy dominates by controlling descent, property, and women’s sexuality. Seed and Earth is the Indian kinship code of that dominance. Brahmanical patriarchy ties it to caste honour. Law can proclaim equality while the household still ranks the father. It is structural dominance, not only prejudice.
Model answer
Introduction
Patriarchy is dominance through the organisation of kinship, sexuality, and labour so that men command line and surplus. In India it is a caste form of dominance, not a free-standing male culture.
Body
As dominance
- Leela Dube’s Seed and Earth makes men the seed and women the field; dominance is the right to name the child and guard the body.
- Uma Chakravarti’s Brahmanical patriarchy shows honour as caste power over women.
- Property, vote by household head, and unpaid care are material dominance, which Walby would split into structures.
Not only the home
- The state, temple, and informal labour market extend it. Informal women workers meet patriarchy as wage theft plus honour.
- Beteille’s disharmony: the Constitution names equality while the lineage names the father.
Variation
- Class and some matrilineal pockets change the mix. Dominance remains the pattern in much of the North Indian belt.

Conclusion
Patriarchy is a form of dominance because it allocates voice, land, and body. Indian sociology must treat it as kinship-caste power, not as private attitude.

-
Is patriarchy the same as men ruling women always?
Senior women can enforce it. The structure still privileges the male line.
-
Does paid work end it?
Wages help. Without title and honour change, dominance relocates to the double shift.

"Educational development is the only Panacea for country's all ills and evils." Critically examine the above statement with reference to NEP-2020
Perspectives on the study of Indian society
Education is necessary for mobility and anti-caste citizenship but not a solo panacea. NEP 2020 reforms structure, language, vocation and equity on paper. Without teachers, public finance and jobs, it becomes credentialism and a dual private-public system. Caste, land and informal labour reproduce ills that schooling alone cannot dissolve. Phule–Ambedkar were right to start with the school and wrong if we stop there.

What are the Private and Public network and support systems operative in Indian society for the aged? Suggest measures to curb down the challenges before care givers of the aged
Perspectives on the study of Indian society
Private support for the aged is still mainly kin, plus a small paid-care market. Public support is pensions, NPHCE and the 2007 Maintenance Act, all thin relative to need. Nuclear residence and migration weaken the joint-family guarantee without ending dependence. Caregivers, mostly women, face time poverty and little respite. Measures must combine adequate pensions, home services and gender-equal family law.

Bring out various factors responsible for declining of village Industries in India.
Perspectives on the study of Indian society
Village industries declined through colonial competition, forest enclosure and the collapse of patronage. Post-independence mill goods, power-looms and plastics continued the squeeze. Credit, GST, and migration now pull youth out of hereditary crafts. Some clusters brand and survive; most artisan households enter informal labour. The process reorders caste occupations, not only GDP shares.
