- Operates as an open, non-profit, member-based organization ensuring Internet address stability and open routing architecture.
Role of NIXI in India
- National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is a Section 8 non-profit company under MeitY setup to peer ISP traffic locally within India.
- Manages the Indian National Internet Registry (IRINN) for delegating IP addresses within India and oversees the .in country-code top-level domain.
Why it matters
- Crucial for transition to IPv6, strengthening critical digital infrastructure, and enhancing routing security against cyber threats.
