The announcement on the Chennai platform is a test, not a trophy. Hindi can be a symbol of national integrity only if it carries a migrant home and still leaves room for the next language on the board. A link language that polices the tongue becomes a stick; a stick does not hold a union. The Constitution already wrote a patient Hindi — work, vocabulary, a duty to composite culture — not a campaign against the South or the street. Awadhi and Bhojpuri are not enemies of Hindi; they are its weather. Teach Hindi as hospitality: translation, a second line, a teacher who does not shame a mother. Integrity is both voices heard. Write a Hindi that translates, not a Hindi that erases.
