CAQM Direction 102 LGV Restrictions and Stone Crusher Dust Guidelines Delhi NCR
Why in news
- The Commission for Air Quality Management approved Direction No. 102 and Direction No. 103 to curb particulate matter emissions in Delhi-NCR.
Information
- Commission for Air Quality Management issued Direction No. 102 restricting new registrations of petrol, diesel, and CNG N1 category Light Goods Vehicles in a phased manner starting January 2027 in Delhi.
- N1 category Light Goods Vehicles account for 1.2% of active vehicle stock in Delhi-NCR but contribute roughly 3.3% of total fleet particulate emissions.
- Phased registration restrictions for N1 vehicles extend to High Vehicle Density districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddha Nagar by July 2027 and remaining NCR districts by January 2028.
- Direction No. 103 incorporates Central Pollution Control Board 2023 Environmental Guidelines for Stone Crushing Units into Consent to Operate conditions, mandating continuous PM2.5/PM10 sensors and automated wheel washing.
