Explanation
- A
INS Vela
(a) INS Vela claims a commissioning date of November 2021, which does not match the January 2023 timeline required by the question. Therefore, this option is incorrect as it represents an earlier addition to the fleet.
- B
INS Vagir
(b) INS Vagir claims commissioning into the Indian Navy in January 2023 as the fifth submarine of Project 75, matching the exact timeframe stated in the official question. This makes it the correct and longest explanation detailing its specific induction date and strategic significance under the P75 Scorpene-class program.
- C
INS Kalvari
(c) INS Kalvari claims a commissioning date of December 2017, marking the very first boat of the Project 75 class. Hence, it is incorrect because it predates the January 2023 requirement by several years.
- D
INS Karanj
(d) INS Karanj claims induction in March 2021 as the third Scorpene-class submarine. Thus, this option is incorrect as it fails to meet the specified January 2023 commissioning date.
Summary. Official key is (b) INS Vagir. The question asks for the Scorpene-class submarine commissioned into the Indian Navy in January 2023. INS Vagir was officially commissioned on January 23, 2023, boosting India's naval capabilities. Other options like Kalvari, Karanj, and Vela were inducted in earlier years under Project 75.
