Explanation
- A
Africa
Africa claims the top rank for regional peace, but it actually faces significant security challenges and conflicts in multiple sub-regions. Therefore, this option is incorrect as it does not represent the most peaceful region.
- B
Europe
Europe asserts that it remains the most peaceful region in the world according to the 2021 index. This option is selected because the Institute for Economics and Peace consistently ranks Europe at the top due to low levels of domestic and international conflict, making it the correct key.
- C
Australia
Australia suggests itself as the most peaceful global region, but it is treated primarily as part of the Asia-Pacific grouping rather than standing alone as the top-ranked region in this index. Thus, this option is incorrect.
- D
South America
South America claims the position of the most peaceful area globally, but political instability and crime rates keep its overall score lower than that of the top-performing regions. Consequently, this option is wrong.
Summary. Official key is (b) Europe. The Global Peace Index 2021 placed Europe at the summit of regional tranquility despite minor internal conflicts. Other regions like Africa and South America lagged behind due to higher security threats. Australia is grouped within a broader geographic classification. Thus, Europe remains the correct choice for this edition of the index.
