- High transmission and distribution losses, theft, and unmetered farm power mean generated megawatts do not become billed energy.

- Rapid urbanisation, appliance load, and diesel for backup raise demand faster than efficient buildings and public transport can cut it.
- Irrigation pumps and cheap or free power flatten the incentive to save; groundwater and electricity crises then feed each other.
- Cooking still leans on LPG imports and, in pockets, biomass, so a fuel-price spike is a household energy crisis, not only an industrial one.
