Opening scene
Anecdote
A wheat stack in a mandi in western UP is life that did not starve in the 1960s story. A dying tube well in the same belt is the bill. Essential for life is true of food. It is not true of a chemical habit without a floor of water. The plate was saved once. The well was not always saved with it. Essential for life now means both.
Keep this in every paragraph
One stand
- Essential: famine averted. For life: now also soil, a cancer file, a diversity. Write HYV, then a millet and a drip.

What the line is asking
- Green Revolution: seed, irrigation, a procurement.
- Essential for life: calorie politics.
- The silent ‘which life’ — a farmer’s kidney, a fish in a canal.
Gain / bill
- Buffer stocks. Punjab–Haryana model exported as destiny.
- Water, a urea, a monocrop.
Next
- Evergreen talk: soil health, a pulse, a FPO.
The counter
Organic as a luxury for the already full is another cruelty. The poor need grain. Essential remains; the method must change.
Plate and well
- Yield, seed, a buffer — the first gift.
- Aquifer, residue, a Punjab-UP cousin of the same bill.
- Evergreen is not a slogan: soil card, a pulse, a water budget.
- A freeze that starves the poor is not ecology; a poison plate is not plenty.
Drop one peg where it fits — not a data dump
Value addition
- Swaminathan cousin Evergreen — soil as life too.
- HYV / MSP The first green’s tools.
- Groundwater / urea The bill.
- NFSA Life as a legal grain.
- PM-KISAN / drip A later tool — peg once.
Last 8–10 lines in the exam
Last paragraph
The Green Revolution was essential because hunger is a politics that kills. It filled a plate and taught a republic that grain can be a public fact. It is still essential as a memory of science in the field. It is not essential as a licence to drink the last well. Life now needs the plate and the aquifer together: a pulse in the rotation, a residue that a child can eat, a canal that is not only a pump race. Do not romanticise the bullock or the bottle. Keep the yield; fund the repair of the soil. Close on a well that still has water after the harvest, and a plate that is still honest.
