Indian Navy will commission 'Mangrol', the third Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), built by Cochin Shipyard Limited.

Waterjet Propulsion

A marine propulsion system that creates thrust by pumping water through a nozzle, optimal for shallow-draft vessels.

Hull-Mounted Sonar

An underwater acoustic detection system fitted directly onto the submerged bottom of a ship's hull.

Torpedo Decoy System

A defensive acoustic countermeasure launched to distract and lure incoming homing torpedoes away from the vessel.

Littoral Warfare

Naval operations conducted in shallow coastal waters near land interfaces.

Project to build shallow-water combatants to replace legacy Abhay-class corvettes for coastal anti-submarine operations.
Designed to undertake sub-surface surveillance, search and rescue, and low-intensity maritime operations in coastal waters.

Achieves over 80% indigenous content under the Make in India initiative.
Propelled by three diesel engines driving waterjets, enabling high manoeuvrability in shallow waters.
Equipped with Abhay Hull-Mounted Sonar, lightweight torpedoes, indigenous ASW rocket launchers, and the Maareech Advanced Torpedo Decoy System.

Strengthens littoral anti-submarine defence along critical sea lanes and coastal naval assets.
Demonstrates growing domestic warship design and manufacturing capability.
