- Samarthak ('The Proponent') is the first in a new class of specialized Multi-Purpose Vessels designed for the Indian Navy.
- Achieves over 75% indigenous content, reflecting domestic shipbuilding capacity under defense indigenisation policies.

- Functions primarily as a trial and evaluation platform for weapons and sensors.
- Engineered to support secondary roles including maritime surveillance, reconnaissance, offshore patrolling, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.
