Topic: National and international events. Syllabus: Section C — National and International Events; Natural Calamities; National Development programmes and projects. Same official PYQ from year-wise 2023 and National and international events.

Essay map

Opening scene

Anecdote

A pilgrim town under a hanging lake and a farmer in the plains who still thinks the Ganga is a given. Melting glaciers are a Himalayan file that becomes a Gangetic file. Danger is sequenced: debris flood, then a thinner summer. A melting glacier is a town’s warning and a carbon clock. Danger is not only a postcard of ice; it is a thinner river in a UP summer.

Keep this in every paragraph

One stand

  • IPCC cryosphere. India: Hindu Kush Himalaya, a hydropower, a China-India river cousin one line. NDMA.

Turn each heading into a full paragraph in the hall

Heading map

What the line is asking

  • Melting: a measured trend. Human beings: plains plus mountains.

Danger / way

  • GLOF. A silted dam. A drinking-water city.
  • Early warning, a no-build zone, a coal-clock.

The counter

A polar image that skips Kedarnath’s cousin. And hydropower as only ‘green’ on a melting slope.

Warn and time

  • Physics: albedo, a lake, a flood pulse.
  • Human: a hydel, a town on a fan, a pilgrimage road.
  • Danger: water, a food, a downstream plain.
  • Time the carbon with a worker; warn the town this season.

Drop one peg where it fits — not a data dump

Value addition

  • HKH / IPCC The ice file.
  • GLOF / NDMA Danger as a warning.
  • Ganga / Yamuna Downstream human.
  • Hydropower / EIA A slope that is not only green.
  • Paris / NDC The slow way.

Last 8–10 lines in the exam

Last paragraph

Melting glaciers are a danger because ice is a bank of water and a brake on a flood. A town below a lake, a hydel, a pilgrimage road — these had files. The plains will drink a thinner summer. Warn the town this season: a siren, a no-build, a slope in the NOC. Time the carbon with a worker, not with a slogan. Do not fake a percentage. Close on a warning and a clock. That is danger as a duty, not as a polar poster.

Himalaya-to-plain. One town, one farmer. Not a polar-bear poster.
